Welcome to the 2010-2011 'Name That Book' Wiki!

This is the place to learn about the many wonderful books that are a part of this year's HISD 'Name That Book' Competition!'  Additional details about 'Name That Book' can be found here.  Below, you will also find a  document that lists all the books for grades 3-6 this year. Starred books have been nominated for a Texas Bluebonnet Award.

Getting Started: You will participate in our group activities in this wiki workspace. Share your opinions about books you've read. Post comments and additional quotes on each book's unique wiki page linked at the left hand sidebar.

Here's how...

1. To get started, click on the file and review the list of books for this year. There are all kinds--fiction, non-fiction, poetry and picture books. You can preview all the book covers as they rotate above also.

2. Each book also has its own page on this wiki that can be accessed by clicking on the 'Fiction,' 'Non-Fiction,' 'Picture Books,' or  'Poetry' folders that are found in the side Navigation Bar. These pages are organized by genre, and will be full of your discussion comments and memorable quotes as we progress through reading all the books on the list and prepare for the contest!

3. After you've previewed some of the books and explored the links to background information about this contest, choose some books you would like to start with and visit the library to check them out.

4. See Ms. Eastman for a user-name and password for this wiki workspace that will allow you to sign in and to share your book reviews and memorable quotations. This will help us to prepare for the competition at the end of next Spring.

5. When you have finished reading a book, you can create and share a book review by clicking HERE and completing the form. Reviews will be published by Ms. Eastman on the wiki pages for each book after you click 'submit' at the end of the form.

6. You can add additional quotes and discussion comments in individual book pages. Your comments will create interesting discussion among us throughout the year as we read and respond to one another.

Happy reading and I look forward to seeing you both here on the wiki and in the library!
